I've just been told off for not updating this blog, so even though there's no news, here we are.
Sitting here with family and with a few glasses under our belts, we're fairly confident that we're going to be ready to be off on the 23rd. We're looking forward to setting up on the 15th in the Kenilworth festival and talking to anyone who's interested - and maybe even raising a bit of dosh for Macmillan on the way.
The first night's rest is booked - a cheapy hotel - but our excuse is that we're doing a long leg to Liege in Belgium then on to Mannheim in Germany the next day. Mannheim will be a couple of days of fun catching up with an old school mate and chatting to americans from the local base who hang out in the bar that he runs.
More once we've settled in Germany.
I spoke to you on Saturday in Kenilworth. I'm the old guy who had the Ozzie hat on. I'd like to wish you the very best of luck on your quest and I know it will be a life changing experience. Please be very careful and always ask the "what ifs" for if things can go wrong, they may well do so. - hope they don't though. Australia is very beautiful with dramatic scenery as well as gentle soothing views. If you would like some ideas please let me know. The RAA (equal to the RAC in UK publishes a book with ALL the campsites in Oz with location, facilities and costs shown. We used it when we toured OZ in 2004 - a must have really. Cannot say much more about it without knowing where in Oz you intend to go. When you go to New Zealand you must go to Rotarua and take in a Maori evening to see the Haka performed The park in Rotarua has many steam and boiling mud sites and the town is small enough to be easily got around. There is a 'Bikers Cafe' to the left just after entering the town. Anyone will tell you where it is.
ReplyDeleteI'l stop burbling now. feel free to ask anything.
Best of luck.
